What is LVT Plastic Floor? Modern Flooring Trends - Luxurious - Economical

In the construction materials industry, LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) is considered a "revolution" to replace traditional ceramic tile and wooden floors. With the advantages of absolute water resistance, diverse designs and low prices, LVT plastic flooring is the number 1 choice for offices, stores and apartments.

1. Definition of LVT Plastic Floor

LVT stands for Luxury Vinyl Tile. This is a type of flexible plastic floor, the main ingredient is virgin PVC combined with stone powder and additives. Unlike conventional cheap plastic floors, LVT simulates wood grain, stone grain or carpet grain extremely realistically with high durability.

2. Detailed Structure of LVT Plastic Floor (5 Layers)

  • UV coating: Prevents the effects of sunlight, keeping colors from fading over time.

  • Wear Layer: Usually 0.1mm - 0.3mm thick, helps prevent scratches and dirt.

  • Film Layer: 3D printing technology creates sharp wood grain and stone patterns.

  • PVC core layer: Flexible PVC plastic helps the floor to be highly elastic, withstand impact without cracking.

  • Base layer: Enhances adhesion to glue and prevents moisture from the floor.

3. Why is LVT Plastic Flooring superior to other types of flooring?

✅ 100% waterproof and mold resistant

Thanks to its structure from PVC, LVT floors absolutely do not blister or rot when exposed to water - something that laminate floors are always afraid of.

✅ High elasticity - "Soft impact"

LVT flooring has flexible properties, providing a soft feeling when moving. Especially safe for children and the elderly because it minimizes injuries when collisions or falls occur.

✅ Sound absorption ability (Noise canceling)

LVT plastic flooring reduces up to 90% of footstep noise, extremely suitable for spaces that require quiet such as offices, libraries or bedrooms.

✅ Extremely reasonable price

Compared to natural wood floors or stone floors, LVT helps investors save 50-70% on material and construction costs while still ensuring high-end aesthetics.

4. Popular Types of LVT Plastic Floors

Currently, LVT plastic floors at the Khosango.com system are divided into 2 main installation methods:

  1. Glue-down LVT flooring: Use specialized glue to apply to the floor before gluing. Extremely durable, firmly adheres to the base but requires the base to be very flat.

  2. Self-adhesive plastic floor (Peel & Stick): There is a layer of glue on the back, just peel off the protective paper layer to paste. This is the optimal solution for customers who want to decorate their homes themselves (DIY).

5. Technical Specifications Table of High Quality LVT Plastic Floor

Technical specifications Details Standard

Classification of Popular Plastic Floors Today

Based on the core structure and installation method, plastic floors are divided into 3 main lines:

  • Lock-seam plastic flooring (SPC/WPC): The planks are linked together by yin-yang seams, without using glue. This is the highest quality line, has good strength, is easy to disassemble and reuse.

  • Glued plastic floor: Use specialized glue to fix the plastic floor to the floor. Cheap price, thin thickness (2mm - 3mm), quick construction.

  • Plastic flooring with pre-adhesive (Decal): Just peel off the back paper and stick directly. Suitable for do-it-yourself home renovation (DIY) at the most economical cost.

Instructions for Correctly Technical Construction of LVT Plastic Floors

  • Step 1: Prepare the ground: The foundation must meet 3 criteria: Flat - Clean - Dry. The flatter the floor, the more beautiful and durable the LVT floor will be after pasting.

  • Step 2: Apply glue: Apply a sufficient layer of glue on the floor, wait about 20-30 minutes for the glue to change from white to light yellow (best adhesion).

  • Step 3: Glue the floor: Install the floor panel in the direction of the light. Use a rubber hammer to gently tap the floorboard to firmly adhere to the floor.

  • Step 4: Finishing: Install moldings or end brackets to cover corner gaps and clean. Wait 48 hours before loading heavy items.
